Modeling water age in a full‐scale residential plumbing system

نویسندگان

چکیده

The residence time of water in residential building systems is a critical factor regarding quality at end use. Published literature has highlighted the importance age these and its relationship with pathogenic bacteria such as Legionella pneumophila. However, tools to measure plumbing are typically repurposed from other applications include limitations that make them inappropriate for some systems. This work presents novel means estimating by assuming operate without mixing. Data this study was collected full-scale home equipped an extensive array flow meters monitor Further, 408 individual samples were ascertain changes take place plumbing. Model results show weak correlation EPANET 2.2 (ρ = 0.666), commonly used hydraulic modeling software. model also evaluated several variable selection tools. These analyses indicate method's statistically significant (p < .05) predictor concentrations. approach could be design and/or operation assist managing risks.

Energy Consumption Modeling in Residential Buildings

In recent years, the issue of energy consumption modeling techniques in the building sector has been widely considered by researchers and managers. Researches indicate that energy consumption in residential sector is one of the main parts of the total consumption. Moreover, the urban residence is supposed as a significant consumer of energy in every country and therefore a focus for energy cons...

A Nephelometric Turbidity System for Monitoring Residential Drinking Water Quality

In this paper the design and development of a turbidity system for monitoring drinking water quality in households is presented. Its operation is based on the principle that the intensity of the light scattered by the suspended matter is proportional to its concentration. Unlike the commercially available turbidity meters, which are relatively expensive and bulky, the proposed device is small-s...

Designing Water Efficient Residential Landscapes with Agent-Based Modeling

Residential irrigation accounts for 40 to 70 percent of household water use in semi-arid and arid regions in the U.S. (Hilaire et al. 2008), which consumes valuable resources. However, landscaping can also produce benefits: trees can reduce the heat index around the home, which decreases air conditioning use and saves energy (Bernatzky 1982; Shashua-Bar, Pearlmutter, and Erell 2009). The focus ...

Opportunistic Premise Plumbing Pathogens: Increasingly Important Pathogens in Drinking Water

Opportunistic premise plumbing pathogens are responsible for a significant number of infections whose origin has been traced to drinking water. These opportunistic pathogens represent an emerging water borne disease problem with a major economic cost of at least $1 billion annually. The common features of this group of waterborne pathogens include: disinfectant-resistance, pipe surface adherenc...

Modeling Housing Demand for New Residential Buildings in Urban Areas

T his study investigates the factors affecting the demand for new residential buildings in urban areas of Iran during 1976-2010. The demand function for new residential buildings in urban areas was estimated and then the existence of a long-run relationship among variables of this function was studied using the Bounds testing of the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Co-integration procedure. The t...
